A website that earns its
place in the search results

Most small business websites are brochures. They look acceptable, they load slowly, and nobody finds them. A site should bring you work while you are on a job, and that is a structural problem before it is a design one.

What is included

Everything needed to launch, nothing you will never use

  1. I

    Design and build

A layout drawn around your business rather than a template with your logo dropped in. Built by hand as a static site, so there is no page builder slowing it down and no platform subscription to renew.

  2. II

    Search structure

One page per service, one page per area worth targeting. Title tags, meta descriptions, headings, schema markup, XML sitemap and internal links all set up properly on day one instead of bolted on later.

  3. III

    Copy that answers

Written around the questions customers actually ask, including the ones about price that most businesses avoid. Being the site that answers first is what earns the call.

  4. IV

    Speed and mobile

Images compressed and served in modern formats, nothing loaded that is not needed. Tested on a phone over mobile data, because that is where most of your visitors are.

  5. V

    Enquiry handling

Forms that email you directly and keep a copy, with spam filtering. Click to call on mobile, clear contact details on every page, and no contact route that depends on you checking a portal.

  6. VI

    Launch and ownership

Domain, DNS, SSL, hosting and email deliverability handled. Google Search Console and privacy friendly analytics connected. The accounts are in your name and you keep them.

How it works

How you get a website from me

Five steps. You see the thing before you pay for it, and you know the price before the work starts.

There is no paid discovery phase and no hourly billing. One fixed price, agreed in writing, with the revision rounds written into it.

  1. I

    A demo, before anything else

I build a real page for your business and send you the link. You click through it on your phone. No cost, no obligation, nothing to sign.

    Free
  2. II

    A short conversation

Fifteen minutes on what you sell, who buys it, what you want a visitor to do, and what the current site gets wrong. I send a brief questionnaire if it is easier than a call.

    Around 15 minutes
  3. III

    Written quote, then a deposit

A fixed price with the pages, revisions and launch tasks listed. A deposit starts the work and the balance is due at launch. If you decide not to go ahead beforehand, the deposit comes back less any time spent.

    Fixed price
  4. IV

    Build and review

You get a private link to the full site as it comes together. You mark up what you want changed, I apply it, and we repeat until it is right. Content is gathered as we go rather than demanded up front.

    Typically one to three weeks
  5. V

    Launch and hand over

Domain pointed, SSL live, forms tested with a real send, old URLs redirected, Search Console verified. You get the logins, a short written guide, and me at the end of an email if something needs changing.

    One day

Search engine optimisation

Eight free SEO tips

These are the things I would do first for any local business, and none of them need me. If you only ever take the free advice off this page, that is a fair outcome.

01 Claim and finish your Google Business Profile

For a local business this outranks almost everything else you can do. Fill every field, choose the most specific category available, add real photographs, and set your service area. A half finished profile is the single most common reason a business with a decent website still does not appear on the map.

02 Give every service its own page

A single page listing eight services will rank for none of them. Search engines match a page to a search, so a plumber wants a boiler repair page, a bathroom fitting page and an emergency callout page. One page, one job, one search intent.

03 Write title tags like a search result, not a brand line

The title tag is the blue link people click. Put the service first, the area second, the business name last, and keep it under about sixty characters. Bathroom Fitting in Bristol | Name beats Home | Name every single time.

04 Fix your images before anything else on speed

Most slow small business sites are slow because of uncompressed photographs. Export at the size they are actually displayed, save as WebP, and let the browser load anything below the fold lazily. This is usually the difference between a four second load and a one second load.

05 Keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere

Directories, social profiles, your website footer and your Google profile should match character for character. Suite 4 and Unit 4 are two different businesses as far as a search engine is concerned, and inconsistency quietly suppresses local rankings.

06 Ask for reviews with a direct link

Do not ask people to search for you. Generate the short review link from your Google Business Profile and send it by text the day the job finishes, while the customer is still pleased with you. Steady reviews matter more than a burst of them.

07 Answer the question on the page

If people search how much does a new bathroom cost in Bristol, the page that gives a real range wins over the page that says contact us for a quote. Being the site that answers first is what earns the click and the call.

08 Check what people already find you for

Connect Google Search Console, wait a fortnight, then look at the queries you already appear for on page two. Improving a page that ranks eleventh is far quicker than trying to rank a new one from nothing.

When you want it done for you

Ongoing search work is a separate arrangement from a build. It covers keyword and competitor research, new service pages written and published each month, Google Business Profile management, citation cleanup, and a plain monthly report that says what changed and what it did.

It works best for businesses in competitive trades where the difference between position three and position eight is measured in jobs per week.

Before you commit

I will build it first, then we talk

Send me the business name and what it does. You get a real page for it, on a link you can open on your phone, with no cost and nothing to sign. If you do not like it, that is the end of it.
